MERITAGE AT CALLAWAY’S EXECUTIVE CHEF, MICHAEL HENRY AWARDED “TOP CHEF” PRIZE

November 24, 2009 (Temecula, Southern California Wine Country) -Callaway Vineyard & Winery and Meritage at Callaway is proud to announce that it’s Executive Chef, Michael Henry, was awarded “Top Chef” at the Temecula Valley Chef Open competition. The event, held at Pechanga Resort and Casino on Monday, November 16, featured several local chefs and benefited the Oak Grove Center for at-risk youth. Chef Henry’s winning dish was a Balinese Peppercorn Seared Ahi with a Pomegranate Sauce and a salad of Butternut Squash, Fennel and Duck Confit.

“I’m extremely honored to receive such an award, especially since it was a competition among my peers, all of whom are great chefs” said Executive Chef, Michael Henry.

One of Temecula’s premiere wine country restaurants, Meritage at Callaway applies the high quality concept of pairing food and wine to create the perfect dining experience. Executive Chef, Michael Henry, has designed an exciting tapas and entrée menu with a Mediterranean flare. The cuisine is based on the “small plate” concept of big flavor and variety, with menu selections being paired with the best of what Callaway Winery offers.

The restaurant’s al fresco dining area boasts spectacular panoramic and hillside views with a multi-tiered arbor terrace offering an outdoor dining experience unparalleled in Temecula Wine Country.

Most Meritage at Callaway’s tapas are priced between $6-15 with lunch and dinner entrées ranging from $17-20.

The restaurant is open for lunch, daily from 11am-4pm and for dinner, Friday-Saturday from 5- 9pm.
