Position: Staff Accountant
Location: Callaway Vineyard & Winery
Reports to: Controller

Position Summary:

We are looking for a diligent staff accountant to join our accounting department.  The staff accountant’s responsibilities include maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, assisting with close processes, conducting internal audits, and maintaining accounts receivable and payable documentation.  You will also be assisting the controller as needed and respond to information requests by management and for auditing purposes.

To be successful as staff accountant, you should be able to accurately maintain a general ledger and ensure compliance with general accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Essential Functions:

The following is a list of essential functions, which may be subject to change at any time and without advance notice.  Management may assign new duties, reassign existing duties, or eliminate a function.

  • Maintain financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assist with monthly close processes.
  • Maintain documentation for accounts payable and receivable, purchase office supplies, and conduct internal audits.
  • Assist in counting and preparing cash deposits.
  • Assist in inventory control processes.
  • Assist in filing DTC tax returns and compliance reports.
  • Maintain personnel files in compliance with USCIS regulations.
  • Assist the controller as needed.

Job Qualification & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or finance is required.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing accounting is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
  • Good problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Advanced knowledge of a variety of office practices and procedures, use of office equipment, including 10-key calculator, MS Excel, MS Word, and QuickBooks Premier or Enterprise accounting software.

Work Environment

This job operates in a clerical, open office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

Note:  This is a full-time position that requires at least 38 working hours per week.  Overtime needs to be pre-approved.  The first ninety (90) days in this position is considered as Introductory Period to determine your career development in the Accounting Department.

Position:  Tasting Room Wine Server/ Tour Guide
Location:  Callaway Vineyard & Winery
Reports to:  Tasting Room Manager

Position Summary:

In order to provide the best visitor experience possible servers must be happy, friendly,  knowledgeable and enjoy working with people.  This position requires patience and professionalism at all times and a willingness to be flexible in a busy work environment.

Tasting Room Servers are responsible for all aspects of welcoming, entertaining and serving guests during their visit to the winery tasting room.  This includes conducting wine tastings and winery tours, providing product information, promoting sales, assisting guests with purchases and resolving any product or service problems. Servers must be able to convey information accurately, pay attention to details, have good listening and communication skills and work well with others.

This position also requires standing for long periods of time, lifting and daily maintenance of the tasting bar which includes cleaning, stocking, washing glassware, organizing supplies and keeping track of wine inventory.

Requirements:

  • Two years experience in hospitality or customer service related fields, retail sales, cashiering and knowledge of the wine industry preferred.
  • Must possess a high level of integrity and be able to execute cashiering, cash and inventory handling in an honest manner.
  • Must be respectful of customers and coworkers and be able to communicate calmly and clearly in a professional manner. Must be able to and explain products, services and special offers accurately.
  • Must be dedicated to the job: able to follow instructions and all company policies,  be timely and reliable, motivated and productive, self sufficient and organized.
  • Wine knowledge is not required but a genuine interest and desire to learn about wine and the wine industry at work and on your own.
  • Must be able to work under pressure, multi-task, meet sales expectations and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs and stand for long periods of time.

Work Schedule:
Part-time position, weekends and holidays required with additional hours as needed by the winery on weekdays or evenings.
Must be 21 years or older.
Hourly rate, plus incentives.

Line Cook
Meritage at Callaway
Job Description

Meritage at Callaway is seeking an energetic, highly motivated Line Cook; this significant component in the operations of our kitchen will be committed to providing impeccable presentation using a complete range of cooking methods while preparing meals to Meritage at Callaway’s standards. Efficient, courteous, service driven, and detail oriented are also a must for this position. Excellent communication and interaction with the team is essential. Future team members must be able to work weekends and holidays. Additional hours may be required as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food    items in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment according to restaurants standardized recipes.
  • Assumes 100% responsibility for quality of products served.
  • Knows and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and
  • Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period.
  • Portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment.
  • Prepares item for broiling, grilling, frying, sautéing or other cooking methods by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning and/or marinating
  • Follows proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes.
  • Properly store, rotate and manage all products.
  • Assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed.
  • Carry out duties assigned by the Executive Chef & Sous Chef.

Dishwasher

Job Description

Purpose/ Summary:

  • Maintains kitchen work areas, equipment, plate ware and utensils in a clean, sanitary and orderly condition.
  • Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Scrape and pre-rinse food from dirty dishes and places them in dish washing machine.
  • Ensure dish area is clean and organized.
  • Washes pots, pans and trays (all dishware) by hand and/or machine.
  • Assist at prep station as necessary.
  • Remove trash to external dumpster area.
  • Ensure all trash cans and trash receptacles are clean.
  • Wash work area tables, prep areas, walls, refrigerator equipment, cooking equipment and floors.

Knowledge and Abilities:

HOUSEKEEPING ASSOCIATE – PART TIME

POSITION SUMMARY

The Housekeeping Associate is responsible for the day to day tasks associated with the housekeeping, maintenance, and cleanup of the facilities at Callaway Winery and Meritage at Callaway Restaurant.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following non-inclusive list. Other duties may be assigned. Nothing in this job description reflects management’s right to assign or reassign duties to this job at any time. All duties are to be performed in compliance with Callaway Vineyards & Winery policies and procedures:

  1. Assist facilities staff/management with day to day on site cleanup to include trash movement, cardboard bundling, moving chairs.
  2. Cleans and removes litter from common areas and entry ways to the property.
  3. Monitors restrooms for stock and cleanliness.
  4. Patrols, periodically, buildings and grounds of the property to ensure facility cleanliness.
  5. Maintain all bathrooms by cleaning as needed and wipe down public surfaces with alcohol.
  6. Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
  7. Records all data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and maintenance needs for use by supervisory staff.
  8. Reports any problem areas to Facilities Manager or the Tasting room Manager.
  9. Notifies supervisor of any needed supplies or equipment.
  10. Maintains appearance of supply room.
  11. Maintains floors by sweeping, vacuuming, scrubbing and polishing as needed.
  12. Maintains appearance of rooms/buildings by dusting furniture and washing walls, ceiling, woodwork, windows, mirrors, door panels and sills.
  13. Empties wastebaskets in common areas, offices and transports trash and recyclables to disposal area.
  14. All other duties as assigned.
